Harry G King

SHREVEPORT, LA - Harry Grover King, Sr. of Shreveport, LA passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Bloom at Bossier Senior Living Community. Graveside services will be held at Forest Park East, St. Vincent Ave. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Jerrell Head, pastor of Landmark Baptist Church, officiating. Harry was born April 4, 1917 to John and Nettie Vernon King. He was a graduate of Fairpark High School. He married Violet E. Smith in August 28, 1937. They had 2 children, Harry G. King, Jr. and Joan Pamela King Short. He later married Martha Locke. He retired from Shreveport Transit Company in 1986, after 49 years of service. He was preceded in death by both of his wives. Harry is survived by his son, Harry G. King, Jr. and wife Betty Jane; daughter, Joan Pamela King Short and husband Dennis; grandchildren, Laurie Manno and husband Mike, Allison Holzhausen and husband Mark, and Jennifer Starr and husband Andrew; and 6 great grandchildren. His family wishes to thank Laurie Manno and Staff of Bloom Senior Living Community for their loving care of Harry in his last years.
