Major Harry P. McCall
Major Harry P. McCall, 93, of Minden, LA passed away on September 26, 2014 in the comfort of his home. He was born on May 13, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA, son of Harry P. McCall, Sr. and Freida C. McCall McLarty. He married his High School Sweetheart, Gertrude Ritts on February 4, 1941 and they were indissolubly married until her passing on June 27, 1997. He later espoused with Nancy S. Kimbell and remained married until her passing on March 31, 2007. He was preceded in death by his son, Harry P. McCall, III. Harry's long standing service to our country includes illustrious careers in the Army and National Guard. While serving, he attended the University of Miami and graduated with a BBA in Business Administration. He then found gainful employment with the Department of Treasury and worked feverishly until his retirement in 1976. His professional life was analogous with his familial life, he was an exemplary man, influencing multiple generations of fathers on how to take care of their families. In passing, he leaves behind: daughters: Kathy Keyser, Susan Baird and husband Arnold; stepdaughters: Jackie Weaver and husband Doug, Shanda Hooper and husband Charles, Tanya Love; stepsons: Keith Kimbell and wife Debra, Rickie Kimbell and wife Marcie; granddaughter: Nancy Ingram and husband Bob; grandsons: David Nelson, John McVeigh and wife Jennifer: great grandsons: Nick Catledge and wife Leah, Michael and Matthew Nelson, Harley Ingram and Ethan McVeigh; great-great grandson: Adler Catledge: great-great granddaughter: Asa Catledge and a number of step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 2, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Gardens of Memory in Minden, LA under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with Rev. Matthew Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 9 until 9:30 a.m Thursday.
A special thanks to Dr. Chris Earnhardt, Gamble Hospice staff and Harry's caretakers: Pirsilla Williams, John Hightower, Cindy Hollenshead, Dee Ann Valentine and Karen Hollenshead who took wonderful care of him.
