Harvey Holman Samuels, Jr.

Mansfield, LA - A memorial service for Harvey Holman Samuels, Jr. will be held at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Mansfield, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at two o'clock in Mansfield, LA. Visitation will precede at 12:30. Harvey was born December 19, 1928 in Mansfield to Sara Lillian "Jack and Harvey Holman Samuels. He died peacefully on Tuesday, March 3.

Harvey was a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Mansfield High School, attended LSU Baton Rouge where he joined Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Centenary College of Louisiana, and graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. He worked with his father in the wholesale petroleum business.

He was a member of Christ Memorial Episcopal Church where he formerly had served as a vestryman, and of the Mansfield Gold and Country Club. He was also a member of the Mansfield rotary Club and formerly a President of the same.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Sarah "Sally" Wemple, father-in-law Maj. Andrew J. Lanier, and brother-in-law Dr. A. Jack Lanier, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annie Laurie Lanier Samuels, son Ben and his wife Rhonda, and grandchildren Madeleine and Zachary Samuels.

Harvey will be remembered for his quiet chuckle, passion for golf, love of animals and adoration of his grandchildren.
