SHREVEPORT, LA - Harvey Alton Stoker, Jr., 84, of Shreveport, La., passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015, at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home.
He was born on November 1, 1930, in Mansfield, LA, to Amanda Beasley Stoker and Harvey Alton Stoker, Sr. Harvey was a purple heart Marine, who proudly served his country and was wounded during the Korean War.
He married his sweetheart, Ruby Geraldine Green, and they moved to Dallas, TX where he worked at Riverside Press, Inc. for 40 years. After retirement, they returned to Louisiana so they could live close to their family. They just celebrated 54 years of marriage. Harvey was a wonderful, Christian man and served his Lord at Cockrell Hill Baptist Church in Dallas and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shreveport, where he leaves behind many friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amanda Beasley Stoker and Harvey Alton Stoker, Sr., and brother, James (Jimmy) Stoker. Left with many joyful memories are his wife, Ruby Geraldine Green Stoker, along with cherished members of both the Stoker and Green families. Although they didn't have children of their own, the nieces and nephews of both families will always remember Uncle Harvey as the "fun-loving", favorite uncle who loved to tell jokes and get into trouble with them. He will be greatly missed by everyone!
