SHREVEPORT, LA - Hazel Katherine Erickson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family on September 21, 2014. She was born September 29, 1926 in Homer, LA to Allen and Olive Brazzel. She was the youngest and last survivor of their six children.
She married Dr. Clarence B. Erickson, the love of her life, in December of 1950. They lived predominately in Shreveport with a few years in New Orleans during their 61 years of marriage.
Katherine was an active member in the Junior League of Shreveport, the Shreveport Medical Auxiliary, and her most treasured group, Alcoholics Anonymous, where she made many friends.
Her beloved husband passed away three years ago, and is survived by their children, Dr. Chris Erickson and his wife, Dinah of Shreveport, and Joan Erickson Lacy and husband, Dan of Grand Junction, CO; granddaughters, Shannon Roehm and Heidi Williams from Grand Junction, Renee Erickson of San Francisco, Gretchen Erickson, currently living in London, and Rachel Erickson of Shreveport. Also living in Colorado are her great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Kendall Roehm and Camden and Keegan Williams.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Louisiana Home Care, St. Joseph's Hospice, Gerald Johnson of Compassionate Care, as well as all of her wonderful caregivers; Beulah, Chakarra, Consuela, Davina, Demetria, Elaine, Ethel, Gloria, and Theressa. They would also like to express a special thank you to Mollie Howard and Josh Hunter for all their love and care through the years.
Katherine's wishes were to have a graveside service with a celebration of her life to follow at her home. Her service will be at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue, Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Father Charles Glorioso will officiate.
Katherine would like to tell all her "estate sale friends" farewell and good shopping.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to a charity of the donors choosing.
