A Celebration of Life service for Hazel Mae Bernard will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 4300 N Market St, Shreveport, Louisiana with burial following at Memorial Gardens North, in Blanchard, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Friday, July 9, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Father Charles Glorioso.
Hazel was born on March 17, 1926 in Coushatta, Louisiana to Jessie Layman and Louisa Wren Laymen and passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Hazel was a domestic engineer of all things. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening and cooking. She was known as Mammaw to everyone and enjoyed having a full household to entertain. She was a family historian who never forgot a detail. She was a true people person and was a caregiver to others at Shreveport Manor for several years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 51 years, Curley J. Bernard; nine siblings; daughter-in-law, Coy Bernard; grandson, Michael Wren Bostwick and great-granddaughter, Lacey Bernard. She is survived by her children, Curley Louis Bernard, Linda Mae Collins, Danny Bernard and Douglas Wayne Bernard and wife, Carolyn; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Charlie Byrd and special caregivers, Tonya Smart and Leah Sanford.
Honoring Hazel as pallbearers will be Patrick Bernard, Stephen Bernard, Mark Bostwick, Paul Taylor, Adam Bernard and Dakota Taylor. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Wayne Bernard and Charlie Byrd.
