HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mrs. Hazel B. Prince, 90, in the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert McGaha, officiating. Interment followed in Arlington Cemetery in Homer. The family received friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Prince was born March 27, 1926 in Newelton, LA to Willie Neal and Lura Mae Ritchie Calvit. She entered into rest on Thursday, March 31, 2016 in Heflin, LA.
Mrs. Prince was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and father of her children, Albert Lee Dean; 2 son, Randall Dean and Tommy Dean; 2 grandsons, Bruce Dean and Kenny Dean; a sister, Alice Cross; and 3 brother, Clyde Calvit, Bill Calvit and Fred Calvit.
She is survived by her second husband of 60 years, Edward Jarrell Prince of Homer; a son, Eddie Prince and wife Deborah of Heflin; a daughter-in-law, Reta Dean; a sister-in-law, Peggy Calvit Tinsley; 3 granddaughters, Meg Prince Salter and husband Allen, Natalie Dean, and Tina Dean McKissack and husband Richard; 4 grandsons, Michael Prince, Kalob Prince, Sean Dean and Dustin Prince and wife Suzi; 16 great grandchildren; 7 great, great grandchildren; a beloved family friend, Doug Shurling; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Doug Shurling, Josh Prince, Dustin Prince, Kalob Prince, Sean Dean, Kolton Pace, Taylor McKissack and Elijah Gorman.
Honorary pallbearer were John Cole, Terry McGaha, Don Sherman, Irvin Bourne, Ed Hackett, Willie Dean, Olin Prince, Richie McKissack and Michael Prince.
In lieu of flowers honoring Mrs. Prince, her family suggests memorials be to St. Jude.
