SHREVEPORT, LA - Helen Olivia Dampier Carroll, age 88, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018, in Miramar Beach, Florida. Helen was born July 27, 1929, in Richland Parish, Louisiana to the late Lucius and Bera Antley Dampier. She was a faithful and loyal member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and a retired fabric store clerk with Hancock Fabrics, but above all, a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Oliver Roland Carroll, Sr., her son, Oliver Roland Carroll, Jr., her two sisters, Gladys Mann and Lillian Carroll, and her brother, J. W. Dampier. She is survived by her four children, Elizabeth (Tony) Seals, Sue (Kelly) Adams, Jimmy (Margaret) Carroll, Janice (Jim) Daves, and daughter-in-law Jo Carroll; eight grandchildren, Allison (Junior) Carroll, Craig (Bobbie) Seals, Todd (Heather) Carroll, Jeremy (Kathleen) Adams, Richard Carroll, Katie (Colt) Adams-Fitzgerald, Sarah (Jerry) Porter, and Rebecca Daves; and five great-grandchildren, Natalie and Nathan Carroll, Jazmin and Abby Seals, and Isabelle Duran.
Helen was a meek, soft-spoken, kind, and faithful Christian who loved the Lord. She was private and hard-working, devoted to her family, and a supportive caregiver. Helen was passionate about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, graciously offering her home as a constant harbor for her family. She was an avid seamstress who worked for G.C. Murphy before retiring from Hancock Fabrics at the age of 75. She faithfully served as a children's Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. She held a strong devotion to her family, who will miss her dearly, but can celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
