Helen Nix Kelley Helen Nix Kelley, a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, enthusiast of flowers, crafts and sewing, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Nurse Care of Shreveport at the age of 86. Daughter of Dewey and Lou Rena Nix, she was born in Mira, LA., in 1928, and graduated from high school in Vivian, LA. in 1946. She was an USAF wife and long-term employee in retail sales. An avid people person, she never met a stranger. Helen married Donald D. Kelley at Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Vivian, LA., on June 3, 1948. They traveled and raised a family in the USAF and were stationed in various locations in the United States and Japan, and has resided in Louisiana for the past 49 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald D. Kelley; her parents, Dewey and Lou Rena Nix; her sister, Maxine Williams and three infant brothers. She is survived by one daughter and three sons: Kathy Follis of Springfield, MO.; Richard and Janie Kelley of Bossier City, LA; Donald Glenn Kelley of Houma, LA; Timothy and Terry Kelley of Houma, LA. She has five grandchildren: Sean and Shari Follis of St. Louis, MO, Shane and Heather Follis of Rogersville, MO; Brandon and Melissa Kelley, Bligh and Brandon Dryden, and Dylan Kelley all of Houma, LA. She has nine great-grandchildren: Jenna, Meagan, Kenleigh, Emma, Amelia, Trevor, Peyton, Bryce, and Gabriel. She is also survived by her brother Johnny Ray and Virginia Nix of Houma, LA. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The Rev. Chris Young will conduct a memorial service on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the South Bossier Baptist Church, 1155 Sligo Road, Bossier City. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Vivian, LA at 2:00 p.m. Flowers should be sent to the Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, LA. 71101.
