Helen Jordan Golden Procell

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive Bossier City, Louisiana, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Highway 80 Haughton, Louisiana at 10:00 am. Chaplain Randy Goudeau will be officiating the services.

Helen Jordan, Golden, Procell was born on December 24, 1936, to George Nathan Jordan and Elmas Emily Jordan in Welborn, Arkansas.  She went to her heavenly home on November 29, 2023, and is now a part of that Great Cloud of Witnesses cheering us on.

She was loved by her husband Rupert Procell who took excellent care of her, showing such love, tenderness, and patience.  They were married for 55 years.  She was also loved by her children Pamela Sweeney and husband Randy, Melody Coleman, and husband Kirk, Dawn Clark Gill and Wayne Procell.  Her pride and joy were her 12 grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason, Aaron, Sarah, Brad, Jen, Chris, Kaydee, Kacie, Nicole, Mary Bay, Kyra, and 25 great-grandchildren.  She had two sisters, Virginia Polk and Martha Smith; two brothers, Nathan Jordan and wife, Linda, and Jerry Jordan and many more loved ones.

She was an avid crafter, and her Turkey pins will live on from one generation to the next.  She was an example of overcoming the obstacles in this life with dignity and strength by holding on to God and not giving up.  She became a nurse when she was 43 and worked at Schumpert Hospital for 18 years.  She selflessly took care of her many patients.  She also loved to travel and go on cruises.  One of her favorite places was Destin, Florida where she would walk on the beach for miles, enjoying the beauty of her surroundings. She was an easygoing and compassionate woman who knew how to laugh and have fun but also enjoyed the peace and serenity of sitting in her backyard watching the birds eat the food she put out.  It has even been said that she had the chubbiest little birds in town.

She was taken from us a little at a time because of the insidious disease of Alzheimer’s.  She is now whole and is seeing Jesus Face to face and there is a reunion going on with those who preceded her in death, her parent, George and Elmas Jordan; 1st husband, George Melbourne Golden; brother-in-law, Bob Polk; son-in-law, Catfish (Scotty) Gill and many more.

Honoring Helen as pallbearers are Jeremy Garrett, Jason Sweeney, Aaron Sweeney, Trien Lien, Jeff Robinson, Regan Murphy, and honorary pallbearer will be Lane Murphy for his “Paula”.

The family would also like to express special thanks to Dr.  Alan Borne and the staff and nurses with Bristol Hospice along with their loving kindness as they cared for her.  We are eternally grateful to Jessica, Chenita, Chastity, and Chaplain Randy Goudeau for the love and care they showed to Helen and our family.

So, Until we meet again we will cherish the many memories we have. We love you and will miss you.
