Funeral services for Helen Elizabeth Speights, 89, will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Keatchie, Louisiana. Burial will follow at the Shiloh Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Richard Tull and Charles Hall.
Helen was born on October 6, 1934, in Marthaville, Louisiana to John D. Ingram and Ollie Alline Weeks Ingram and passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, in Shreveport. Helen, or “Granny” as she was lovingly called, retired as a beautician (Owner/Operator) for 45 years. She loved her family and holiday time was her favorite. She loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shopping was her hobby, and she also loved gardening, especially caring for her flowers. She dearly loved her church and the church family at Shiloh Baptist Church. Her favorite companion was her dog, Prissy. She was a loving Mother and Granny for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Huey Speights; parents, John Ingram and Ollie Magee; sister, Johnnie Marie Barlow and John D. Ingram, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Reggie Speights and wife Sallie, Keatchie, LA, Suzette Parker and husband Dan, Benton, LA; grandchildren Julie Boyett and husband Micheal, Kari Thompson and husband J.L., Riley Speights and wife Brittany, Christy Martin and husband Ben, Brad Lowe and wife Emily, and Amy Randall and husband Jacob; great-grandchildren Sydney Latham, Mason Boyett, Ella Grace Boyett, Hannah Jackson, Gretchen Martin, Tucker Martin, Isabelle Randall, Nicholas Randall, Maeva Lowe, Nathan Lowe, and Benjamin Lowe; sister Jackie Sue Lee.
Honoring Helen as pallbearers will be Brad Lowe, Ben Martin, Jacob Randall, Nathan Lowe, Tucker Martin, Riley Speights, J.L. Thompson, and Micheal Boyett. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kim Timmons, Judge Cordray, and Paul McFadden.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice nurse Renee Sugg and the Carpenter House staff.
