SHREVEPORT, LA - Helen was born on June 5, 1930. On Mother's Day, May 10, 2015 Helen departed this life for heaven. Her family by her side was granted the privilege to watch the angels from heaven open their arms and welcome the newcomer. Helen was a native of Center, Texas spending her childhood years in Mansfield, Louisiana. Later she became a longtime resident of the Keithville/Shreveport area. She leaves behind a world of great memories and untold stories for our family to share for generations to come.
Helen was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and faithful Christian, loved by all. Among her attributes she possessed a great sense of humor, generous to a fault, and completely unselfish. She loved her garden, flowers and fishing. Her greatest enjoyment in her senior years was dancing.
Helen was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church and frequently attended First Baptist Church of Keithville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Benton Thomas; parents Lonnie and Donnie Burns; 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by daughters, Joyce Kitts; Kay Richards and husband Eddie; Judy Dickson and husband Bill; sister, Marie Latona; 7 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 7:00PM at Rose Neath Southside. Services will be held Monday, May 18, 2015 at 10:00AM, Rose Neath Southside with Reverend Mike Stowell officiating. Interment will be at Forest Park West.
Honoring Ms. Helen as pallbearers are Terry Burns, Tommy Burns, Hayward Burns, Brian Burns, Robert Burns and Tommy Pilkinton.
