HOMER, LA: Herbert Jefferson Parker, a career commercial pilot, filed his last flight plan on December 16, 2014 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Final destination - Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior. He was a good, honest, Christian man who had deep love and respect for family and friends. Herbert was preceded in death by wife of 60 years, Mary Lou Waring Parker; his parents, Alma Bert English Parker and James Oscar Parker; brothers, James Leigh, Joseph Leonard, Frederick English, and Robert Edgar; sisters, Julia Sybil Edwards, Dorothy Elaine Carter. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Gail Parker and Robin Anne Parker Wright; son-in-law, Stephen L. Wright; his special grandson, Andrew Roman Wright; brothers, Charles Don and John Herman; sisters, Mary Helen Pinard, Annie Ruth Dawson, and Edith Belle Platt. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins survive him as well. Special thanks are extended to the staff of Faith Presbyterian Hospice and caregivers of B&Y Care Houses for theirkind, gentle, Christian care provided Herbert. In one of Mary Lou's last dreams, she said she will be waiting for us by a beautiful lake with rising fish in Heaven. They will now be waiting together.
Services were held on December 19, 2014 at Faith Chapel - Prestonwood Baptist Church, Plano, TX and at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Homer, LA on December 20, 2014 where he was laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery there.
