Graveside services honoring the life of Herman Dwight Anglin, Sr., will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at Hurricane Cemetery, in Athens, LA.
Herman was born August 23, 1934, in Homer, Louisiana, to Rogers and Virgie Jane King Anglin. He entered into rest on December 31, 2024, at his home in Athens, LA, with his loving family by his side.
Herman worked his whole career in the oil field. Starting out as low man on a rig, he worked his way to Superintendent of drilling in the Middle East, and finally to being a consultant upon his retirement. His work took him around the world, where he had many adventures that included his wife Wanna. Some were good, and some not so good, but they were together. His greatest enjoyment after retirement was mowing his yard. Not a blade of grass was ever out of place. Herman also enjoyed being a newlywed to his bride of 8 years, Shirley Anglin. They enjoyed feeding the Canadian Geese together.
Herman is preceded in death by his wife, Wanna Ruth Duke Anglin, and son, Herman D. Anglin, Jr.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Shirley Cole Anglin; daughters, Paulette Beavers and Cynthia “Pete” Hall and husband Donnie; grandchildren, Timothy Mayberry, Elias Hall, Jennifer Whitten, Suzzanne Fairless, and Kay Hall; stepchildren, Flora Towns & husband Randy, Lonnie Dean and wife Donna, Nora Howard, and Judy Carter and husband Jay; sisters, Loma Anglin and Linda Jett and husband Eddie; by numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
Honoring Herman as pallbearers will be Timothy Mayberry, Chris Jett, Patrick Jett, Jay Carter, Lonnie Dean, and Daniel Ledford. Honorary pallbearers will be Elias Hall and Thomas Beavers.
