Funeral services celebrating the life of Hilda Green English, 78, will be held at 11 am on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Rose Neath Chapel in Mansfield, LA. Officiating will be Reverend Bob Latham with Reverend Lee Dickson assisting. Interment will follow at Pollard Cemetery in the Lula Community. Family visitation will be held at Rose Neath in Mansfield on Wednesday, February 24th from 5 till 8 pm. Hilda was born to Roy and Maggie Green on May 22, 1937, and God called her to her heavenly home on Monday, February 22, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Travis "Cuz" English; brothers, Dalton and Weyman Green; and grandson, Brady Thigpen. Left to cherish Hilda's memory are her children, Dana English Fletcher (Craig); Lisa English Allen (Randy); and Travis "Bubba" English, Jr.; sisters, Ruby Geraldine Stoker and Laverne Smith (George); brother, Doug Green (Bonnie); grandchildren, Devin Allen-Cartwright (Brady), Cory Allen (Mindy); great grandchildren, Haygen and Roman Cartwright, and Acen and Baker Allen; sister-in-law, Nora Connell; brother-in-law, Don English (Joyce); and cousin, Bobbie English; along with a large host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Honorary her as pall bearers will be Tommy Mason, Gary Calhoun, Bubba Huey, Ernie Austin, Harvey Allen, and Floyd "Jake" Ford. Honorary pall bearers will be the morning coffee bunch at English Wrecker and Auto Parts. Hilda English retired from the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service and was the owner of English Wrecker and Auto Parts. She was a dedicated member of Antioch Baptist Church in Mansfield where she taught Sunday School, serviced on several committees, visited for her church, sang in the choir and was the VBS Director for many years. Hilda was in civic and community organizations: Friends of 4-H, Red Hat Society, and The Pilot's Club, where she held several offices and received the Dora Nance Special Award. One honor she cherished was being named First Lady of Beta Sigma Phi Service Sorority in 1995. Hilda was a wonderful Christian lady with a true servant's heart. She was an amazing cook and loved serving delicious meals to all of her family and friends. The local sheriff and police departments enjoyed her famous Christmas goodies every year on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The morning coffee bunch at her business also loved her homemade cookies. The family requests that memorials be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 15937 Hwy 175, Mansfield, LA 71052, Grove Hill Cemetery Fund, 5532 Hwy 509, Mansfield, LA 71052, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Our sincere appreciation to The Guest House Administration, nurses and staff; Dr. Clarence Teagle; Aime Hospice Care, Donna Williams, Shari Powell, and especially, Hospice RN, Connie Hart Murphy, for all of the great love and care they extended to our beloved, Hilda English.
