Hubert R. Pebworth

Funeral services honoring the life of Hubert R. Pebworth will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Haughton, 105 E. Washington Ave, Haughton, Louisiana. Dr. Gevan Spinney will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Haughton Cemetery, LA-157, Haughton, LA. Visitation will be prior to the service at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Pebworth was born in Shreveport, LA to Bertha and Frank Pebworth on February 10, 1931. He passed away at home on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. Hubert was a loving and devoted husband for 69 years. He was a self-employed painter for most of his life and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Haughton. After retirement he enjoyed gardening especially tomatoes, cantaloupes, watermelons and fig trees. He enjoyed having his family over for fish fries and liked raising his own worms and crickets for fishing. The last few years of their marriage he devoted everyday to being a caretaker for Irene and was always reading books to help find a cure for her. Mr. Pebworth was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillie Irene Pebworth; two daughters, Tammy Louise Pebworth Cox and Lucinda K. Pebworth Mounger; his parents, and sister, Frances Pebworth Berg. He is survived by his five grandchildren, Kenneth Mounger, Jr. Joshua Mounger, Daniel Cox, Sr. and wife, Haley, Tracye Giddens and husband, Roy, and Jennifer McKellar and husband, Cody; four great-grandchildren, Dillan Mounger, Raeleigh McKellar, Daniel Cox, Jr. and Branson Cox and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Pebworth\'s grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Gandy, Leon Gandy, Steve Gandy and Larry Gandy. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their care and would also like to thank his special caregivers, Danielle, Carla, Amy, Connie and Amanda.
