Ida Mae McGirr

It is with both sadness and gladness that we announce the homegoing of our dear mother, Ida Mae Woods McGirr, 93 (August 18, 1931-January 15, 2025). In sadness, "We can't imagine life without Moma." But also, in gladness, by virtue of her now being reunited, not only with her many loved ones but also with her precious Lord and Savior.

Although she was raised in Ruston, Louisiana, and raised her own five children there, for many years she lived in Bossier City. However, for the past twenty-plus years, Ida has resided in Gloster, Louisiana.

Ida (93 years old) was preceded in death by her husband, Mike McGirr; her mother and father, Leecy Sharp Woods, and John Dean Woods; five brothers, and three sisters, with Ida being the last of nine children to survive. Also preceding her are her beloved three sons, Danny, Jimmy, and Joe Daniel.

Survived by Ida are her two loving and devoted daughters, Elizabeth (Libby) Johnson and Rose Marie Bohanan [Mark Bohanan], and also two loving and devoted stepdaughters, Cynthia Miller [Don Miller] and Valerie Navarro, as well as three daughters-in-law (Clarice, Rowena, and Edna Daniel). Ida was a beloved aunt and great aunt to the many children of her siblings, and loving grandmother, great, great, great grandmother to numerous grandchildren who loved her so dearly.

A very honorable mention must be made of her church family (Ye Olde Faith Baptist Church, Benton, LA) whom, for many, many years, she has loved so dearly, and who has loved her. What Ida enjoyed most in life was going to church on Sundays and attending church events. Her church family always made a special effort to celebrate her birthday each year, an act which gave her such joy! We wish to express heartfelt thanks for the sincere and genuine love, support, visits, prayers, and acts of generosity and kindness from this godly family which, in so many ways, helped sustain her.

Officiating the service will be Reverend John Warner.
