BOSSIER CITY, LA - Imogene "Gene" Maples was called home by our Lord on July 1, 2014. She was born on January 15, 1924 in Bristow, OK to Joseph and Vina Butcher.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Maples, Sr.; her parents; brother, Charles Butcher; sister, Francis Washeleski; three great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Mom is survived by her seven children, Evelyn (Sonny) Evans of Natchitoches, LA, Frances Glass of Bossier City, LA, James M. Maples Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Sammie Adamson Forrester of Purdon, TX, Sharon (Randy) Ponder of Haughton, LA, Maryan (Dean) Smith of Florrissant, MO and Hazel (Gary) Winner of Rhome. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
Mom lived a long, full life. She enjoyed traveling the world, playing canasta with her family and having lunch with the ladies. She was also an active member of the VFW #4588.
Funeral services will be1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Randy Harper. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery, Haughton, LA. Visitation will be prior to the service Saturday, beginning at 12 noon.
Honoring Mom as pallbearers will be Sid Evans, Jacob Ponder, Jonathan Ponder, Robby Ivey, Chris Ivey and Steve Graff.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the many years of tender care given to Mom by Dr. Allen Cox. Thank you Alisa Tasby, Shuvun Bryant and Dwanda Terrell for your loving care of Mom during her final days at home.
