Inez Baker Bolton passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Thursday February 12, 2015. A private graveside service will be held Saturday February 14, 2015, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 in First Baptist Church Shreveport Sanctuary. Officiating will be Raymond Boswell of First Baptist Church.
Inez was born March 5, 1924 in Calhoun, Arkansas. She graduated from Harvey Couch High School in 1942. She attended Meadows Draughon business school in Shreveport and later worked for Louisiana Paper Co. as a bookkeeper.
Inez married James B. Bolton March 23, 1947. Together they began Bolton\'s Grocery in the Cedar Grove neighborhood. She was a member of the YWCA, Garden Club, and her book club. Inez enjoyed entertaining friends for dinner at her home and especially going to their camp on Lake Bistineau where kids and friends would swim, ski and make homemade ice cream, to enjoy out in the lake on their floating platform.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents James Franklin Baker and Ida Poindexter Baker, siblings Marie Almond and Slay Baker. She is survived by her husband James B. Bolton, her sister Jessie Thomas, her children Ysleta Bolton Hansen, Bernard Bolton and his wife Celeste, David Bolton and his wife Debbie, and Mary Bolton Carter and her husband Paul. Her grandchildren that she dearly loved are Denise, Monroe, Amy, Trey, John, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Logan, and Lauranne. She also cherished her fifteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Inez loved her church, First Baptist Church of Shreveport where she served as Sunday School teacher, nursery volunteer and as member of her Women\'s Sunday School class. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church adult choir or Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Calhoun, Arkansas.
