Inez Dick

Inez Jones Dick went to be with our Lord and many loved ones on January 22, 2017, after a long battle with Parkinson's. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Segner. Interment will follow at Cotton Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January, 25, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at Rose-Neath.

She was born January 4, 1931, in Ball, LA and resided in Shreveport for the last 45 years. She graduated from LA College, went on to receive her Master's in Education from LSU, and taught school before becoming a mother. Even with five children to raise, she found time to volunteer her services at LSUMC and was very active in her church. She returned to work in 1980 as secretary at Spring of Grace Baptist Church where she was employed 29 years before retiring. Her love for cooking meant so much to her, that gathering of friends and family in her home or at her church was what she enjoyed most.

After 8 years of marriage, she and our dad decided they must adopt. Only 3 weeks after being approved did they receive the call for their first baby. They adopted five babies between 1961 and 1968.

We could not have known how blessed we were to be placed with the most loving parents children could have. There are so many wonderful memories of family gatherings, holidays, ballgames, fishing, church fellowship, friends, and long days of shelling peas. The unconditional love and support we received from our parents was unwavering and the rock from which we draw our strength to go forward in life.

She wrote her story in October 1973 which included details of picking each one of us up from the adoption agency. She presented a copy to each of us one Christmas. At the end, she wrote,

"I looked at a child and what did I see...

an opportunity to love

an opportunity to help

an opportunity to care

an opportunity to cherish

Motherhood is exciting. I thank the Lord for giving me five wonderful children and it is my prayer that I will always be a mother they can be proud of."

Our mother was a special lady that we will always be proud of. It is an honor to treasure her in our hearts and memories.

She is preceded in death by her parents Rev. James A. and Lou Anna Jones, sister Bertha Marbut, sister Dorothy Moore, brother Rev. Wesley Jones, her beloved husband of 57 years Leland R. Dick, and son Kevin Dick.

She is survived by her brother Rev. Frank Jones and wife Diane and family, her children Randi McGough (Keith), Gaylon Dick (Shelly), Kay Stough (Gene), Kristi Wedgeworth (Virgil); 9 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

We are thankful for all the ladies at the Glen who truly recognized how special our mom was who strived to make her quality of life better every day. All of you are forever in our thoughts and prayers. We would also like to express our gratitude to Life Path and those faithful friends who visited her regularly and always brightened her day.
