Iris Marie (Telford) Robinson left this life on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Serenity House Hospice in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Iris had been a resident of Oskaloosa since 2008. Prior to moving to Iowa, Iris lived in Shreveport, Louisiana from for over 40 years and later relocated to Pineville, Louisiana from 1994 until moving to Iowa.
Iris was born on March 1, 1935 to Minor Alton and Iris Virginia (Stewart) Telford in El Dorado, Arkansas. Iris was an only child, but grew up with a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins . The family later moved to Haynesville, Louisiana where Iris finished school and met a local boy, Royce M. Robinson, to which she married on December 19, 1953. The couple was blessed with one daughter Rebecca Ann.
Her lifes work was, at first, a stay-at-home mom who stayed involved in many activities associated with her daughters school and social events. In 1972 Iris returned to the workforce working for A & A Appliance and later for Graf Electric until her retirement in 1992. Iris was a very talented artist and a fantastic cook who was noted for her pies. She had a love of cross stitch, creating many samplers given to those she loved. Iris adored her family and friends touching the lives of many.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Becky and her husband Paul Falck of Oskaloosa. Three grandchildren, Kyle Aycock of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Peter Falck of Des Moines, Iowa, and Kelli Falck of Ames, Iowa.
Iris was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, her parents and her grandparents Henry and Effie (Bird) Telford and David and Lena (Dorman) Stewart.
Services celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, with Rev. Ed Dilworth officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Mahaska Health Partnership Serenity House in Oskaloosa, Iowa or Palestine United Methodist Church in Pineville, Louisiana.
