SHREVEPORT, LA - Ivory Lea Jarred, 88, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in her home July 10, 2016. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2016 at Providence Baptist Church, where she was an active member. Bro. Chris Young and Bro. Darrell Dean will be officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ivory was born in Hornbeck, LA to the late Sam and Ruby Self. Ivory graduated Ratan High School. After graduation she moved to Shreveport and found employment at South Central Bell where she worked as a switchboard operator for 44 years. She enjoyed gardening and collecting antiques.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 45 years, Carl Jarred, Sr.; son Carl Jarred, Jr. and sister Lela Self. She is survived by daughter Lesa Watson and partner, Cindy Burke; granddaughter Kristen Watson, grandson and loving caregiver Steven Watson and his fiancé Elisha Howell; great-grandsons Noah and Aiden Watson; brother Leland "Buddy" Self; sister Julie Moses and husband Mickey. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family who will miss her deeply.
