J.C. Johnson
Services for J.C. Johnson will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Minden, Louisiana, with burial to follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Haynesville. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church.
J.C. was born in Athens, Louisiana on January 17, 1933 to Chester and Annie Maude Johnson. He graduated from Haynesville High School in 1951. J.C. was best known for his nearly 50 year career in the automobile business at Donnie Waller Ford, Bienville Motors, and J.C. Johnson Ford in Haynesville, Arcadia and Minden, respectively. During his career J.C. served as president and board member of Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association and Self Insurers Fund. He also served as president and board member of the Ford Dealers Advertising Fund.
Although J.C. was not a graduate of L.S.U., through his love for the university he was instrumental in starting the Webster Parish alumni chapter and scholarship fund. He went on to serve as a member of the L.S.U. Alumni Board. Through his strong faith in God, J.C. was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Minden. J.C. was a devoted husband, father, and friend to many. His strong character, enthusiastic smile, and charm will be remembered by all.
J.C. is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 63 years, Annie Laura, brother, Donald (Frances), sister, Carolyn Olson (Richard), son, Don, grandchildren Dylan, Kyle, Lauren (John) and Heath (Amy), and three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Annie Johnson of Haynesville and son Richard of Minden.
