Jack C. McConnell Jr., aged ninety-five (95), passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, hard work, and love. Born in 1929, Jack was the esteemed co-founder of McConnell Painting Corporation, a company that has proudly served the community for 50 years. His entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence have left an indelible mark on the industry.
Jack was married to the love of his life, Judith G. McConnell, for seventy (70) wonderful years until her passing on January 6, 2024. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their deep bond and mutual respect.
He is survived by his loving children: Robert J. McConnell, Grover "Cleve" McConnell, and Jacqueline A. McConnell. Jack was a proud grandfather to Shawana A. Hornsby, Jeremy S. McConnell, Angela M. Donnelly, Alicia M. Ardoin, Jack W. McConnell, Marc D. McConnell, and Amanda M. Morris. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Tori, Cody, Tyton, Cole, Savannah, Riley, Jaxson, Robert, Kai, Claire, and Miles, as well as three great-great-grandchildren.
Jack's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his business, and his community. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the positive impact he had on everyone who knew him
Jack and Judy shared a love for RVing, exploring the United States from the rugged landscapes of Alaska to the sunny shores of Florida. Together, they visited all fifty states, creating cherished memories along the way. When they were not on the road, Jack enjoyed helping Judy in her gardening endeavors. Their backyard was renowned for its stunning gardens, another testament to their shared passion and hard work.
Jack was deeply involved with Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Shreveport, where he taught Sunday school for many years. He and Judy were instrumental in growing the church, particularly through their activities with the young people. Their dedication to nurturing the spiritual growth of the youth left a lasting impact on the community.
In addition to his professional achievements, Jack was known for his involvement in various community initiatives and his passion for mentoring young entrepreneurs. His wisdom and guidance have inspired many to pursue their dreams with the same vigor and determination that he exemplified throughout his life.
Jack C. McConnell Jr. will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the enduring success of McConnell Painting Corporation.
A graveside service will be held for family and close friends on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd., in Shreveport. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., in Shreveport before the service. Officiating the service will be Rev. Joe Burks.
Honoring Jack as pallbearers will be Tyton Antee, John Hornsby, Marc McConnell, Cole Free, Gary Morris, and Jeff Norcross. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy McConnell and Jack Fortner.
