Jack Mims

Services for Jack Mims will be Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, LA. Officiating will be Revered Kathy Fitzhugh and assisted by Larry Rocquin. Burial will follow at Springville Cemetery, in Coushatta, LA. The family will receive friends for Visitation on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home from 5:00 till 7:00 PM. Jack Mims was born on May 24, 1941 in Heflin and passed away at home in Converse, LA, on July 26, 2016. Jack was raised from the age of 9 till graduation from Ruston High at the Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, LA. After High School he attended Hines Jr College in Vicksburg, MS, and then LSU in Baton Rouge, LA. He graduated from LSU with a degree in Forestry and a Masters in Statistics. He was proud of being in the honor society, Gamma Sigma Delta while at LSU. Jack went to work for Proctor and Gamble in Perry, FL, out of college. In 1973, he moved to Mansfield and went into the timber business for himself. He operated Mims Timber with logging and timber buying for many years, and built Mims Lumber Co. Jack's most loved planning his next "Event". Whether it was visiting children and grandchildren in Ruston and South Carolina, or cooking the next meal for Alex when she came or whomever he was with. He is survived by his wife, Elsa, children and their spouses, Greg and wife Stephanie, Laura and husband Van, Patrick and wife Dana; grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Jack, Callie, Cameron, and Amalia. Those honoring the life of Jack as pallbearers are Joe Piazza, Haus Cordray, Red Kleinman, Johnny De Marche, Larry Clinton, and Drew Mims. Honorary Pallbearers are James Scott, Kevin Grant, Frank Reed, Scott Brown, Billy Wyllie, Hubert Hulon, Jake Lewis, and Cameron Pattison. Memorials may be made to First Methodist Church in Mansfield, LA.
