Funeral services for James Andrew Parker (Jimmy), 79, will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Jeff Villegas and Pastor Jorge Diaz.
 
Jimmy was born October 25, 1944, to A.J. (Doc) Parker and Mary Brice Parker in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in Shreveport.
 
Jimmy was a resident of Bethany, Texas. He graduated from Elysian Fields High School. He was a Medical Corpsman in the United States Army from 1965-1967. He was an Auxiliary Police Officer during the 1980’s with the Shreveport Police Department. He married the love of his life, Margaret, on May 1, 1993. He retired after a career with Western Electric/AT&T.
 
Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, A.J. (Doc) Parker. Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Mary Brice Parker; wife, Margaret Haymaker Parker; sons, Charlie Parker and wife, Jessica, and Kenny Parker; brother, Dickie Brice Parker and wife, Susan; sister, Marlene Solomon and husband, Leslie; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
 
Honoring Jimmy as pallbearers will be Charlie Parker, Kenny Parker, Travis Warner, LeDerrick Tucker, Sonrose Rutledge, and Juston Phillips. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dickie Parker, Leslie Solomon, Chad Solomon, Clint Solomon, Steve Parker, and Scott Parker.
 
Jimmy’s life was lived to the fullest. He never met a stranger and was always ready to help anyone in need. He loved to laugh, aggravate, and joke around. He loved us all, and we loved him. He will be greatly missed.
 
The family would like to express special thanks to the staffs at several Willis-Knighton Hospitals for all the wonderful care and compassion they gave to Jimmy. Also, thanks to the Shreveport Fire Department for their quick response and courageous attempts to save Jimmy’s life.
