James Edward "Poppy" Bass, Jr.

SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for James Edward Bass, Jr. "Poppy", will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, with Pastor Eddie Briery officiating. Visitation with the family and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport. James was born October 3, 1941 in Glenmora, Louisiana to James Edward Bass, Sr. and Annie Ruth Quarles Bass, and went to be with his Savior on Saturday, May 20, 2017. James was a 1959 graduate of Fair Park High School. He proudly served his country in the US Navy as a Submariner. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, and reading his bible. James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Annie Bass; his angel and wife of 45 years, Mary Louise Hamm Bass; brother, Robert Earl Bass; brothers-in-law, Leonard Briery and Barry Lane Hamm; and father-in-law, Bunnie Hamm. Left to cherish his memory are his son, James Edward Bass III and wife, Lisa; daughter, Rhonda Louise Bass; grandchildren, Loralei Louise Bass and boyfriend, Justin Twidt, Meagan Paige Blanks and husband, Eric, Kellen Moore and husband, Clayton; his great-grandson, Jack Wyatt Blanks; brother and best friend, David Bass and wife, Linda; sisters, Penny Viscardis and husband, Curtis, and Suzie Briery; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
