WASKOM, TX - Celebration of Life services for Loy Brewster, 74, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 13, 2014, in the sanctuary of Rose-Neath Minden Chapel with Brother Tom Lamb and Brother Dubois officiating. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Mt. Zion Cemetery, Minden, LA under the direction of Rose-Neath Minden. The family would like to welcome guests for visitation Friday, September 12, 2014, from the hours of 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA.
Mr. Loy was born July 10, 1940 in Star City, Arkansas to the late John Harvey and Lona Webb Brewster and was called from this earth September 10, 2014 in Bossier City, LA. He served this grateful nation by joining the U.S. Marine Corp. Mr. Loy retired following 33 years of dedicated service from Voith Wire Plant.
Mr. Loy was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; Curtis Brewster, two sisters; Bernice White and Judy Pevey. Left to cherish the beautiful memories that Mr. Loy leaves behind will be his beloved wife of 28 years, Tommie Newsom Brewster, one son; James C. Brewster and wife Frances, two daughters; Sharron Langley and husband Mark, Dee Dee Gurgainers and husband Phillip, two sisters; Emma Orr and Bobbie Reagan, two brothers; Royce Brewster and wife Ricki, John Brewster, five grandsons; A.J. Riley, Tony Riley, Chris Brewster, Michael Brewster, Ben Brewster, Robbie Brewster, three granddaughters; Paige Gurgainers, Kendall Gurgainers, Cecily Gurgainers, along with numerous extended family members and many wonderful friends.
Honoring Mr. Loy as pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Russell, Don Bailey, Bill Eschenbach and Kenneth Parker.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of The Promise Hospital, Dr. San Pedro and his staff for the care and compassion provided Mr. Loy and his family during this great time of need.
In honor of Mr. Loy Brewster memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, Food Pantry or the Youth group, 10043 Highway 79, Bethany, LA, 318-938-5028.
