Funeral services for Jim will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Reverend John Lary, Reverend Steve Gilley, and Reverend Marc Roath will be officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Interment will follow services at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA.
Jim was born on August 24, 1938 to John Alexander Cochran and Mary Iona Cochran in Waterloo, AL and passed away on September 22, 2018. He was in the Air Force for 20 years. Later he worked for Schumpert for many years. Jim was a handy man and would mow yards for the widowed women and kept his yard immaculate. He was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church and would occasionally go on mission trips. Jim also enjoyed playing cards and spending time at the lake house on Toledo Bend.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mindy Cochran Meshell; 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of 27 years, Peggy Cochran; daughter, Sandy Haywood and her daughter, Hanna Haywood; son, Kevin Roy and his former wife, Tammy Roy and daughters, Chyene Roy and Shelby Roy; sister, Mary Young; brothers, Charles Cochran, J.V. Cochran, John Cochran, Jr.; Jim's former wife, Patricia Guin and their daughters, Sheila and husband Bruce Curtis, Cindi and husband Tony Hall, and Terri and husband Danny Brown; grandchildren, Dena and husband Kenneth Wooldridge, Nikki and Kevin Rivers, Brianna Hall, Allisha and Sierra Cochran, Ryan and wife Savannah Meshell and Raven Meshell; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Addison Ferrata, Gavin Rivers, Liam and Leighton Hensley.
He is also survived by numerous family members and friends.
Honoring Jim as pallbearers will be Steven Falcon, Tim Falcon, Matt Durr, James Burkheart, Marcus Durr, and Mike Falcon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Gaspard, Bill Bunch, Bob Pender, Louie O' Quinn, Ernie Falcon, Jimmy Self, David Falcon, Malcom Durr, Jon Olmstead, and Gene Ash (Posthumous).
