James Allen Davis passed away surrounded by family and friends Sunday November 30 after a hard fought battle with a terminal disease. Jim, as he was known, will be sorely missed. He was a loving husband to his wife of 52 years, Patricia Davis and a wonderful father to four children. Jim was born in April 15, 1942 in San Bernardino California. He attended Pacific High School where he was starting quarterback his senior year for the Pacific Pirates. In 1961, Jim entered the Navy where he became a radio technician. He serviced all manners of aircraft but particularly enjoyed working with carrier based fighter planes. On July 14, 1962, Jim married his sweetheart, Patricia Ilene Stiles in San Bernardino California. The couple made their home around various towns in southern California as the Navy required. Jim was released from full time naval duty in 1965. He simultaneously transferred to the Naval Reserves. Jim was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1967. In 1973 Jim moved his family to Louisiana where he first settled in Plain Dealing. Jim went to work as an electronic technician for Comet Industries. That job soon led to employment with Kansas City Southern Railroad where he retired in 2012. At the end of his career with the railroad, Jim was the Manager of Facilities. He enjoyed his time at the railroad and more particularly the many deep friendships he developed there. Jim had a love for automobile restoration with a talent that matched his enthusiasm. Among other endeavors, Jim restored a Ford Mustang for each of his children at the time for them to drive. He was no backyard mechanic. His talent was recognized when he was called upon to restore several vintage Ford European race Cobras of the 1960s into true museum pieces. Although he would always lend a hand to a neighbor or friend with a car, he was never known to work on a Chevrolet. More important than his work or play, Jim diligently served his family in any way needed. He gave his all to Michael Craig, Devry Todd, Kimberly Kay and Darren Allen Davis. After the kids were grown he relocated to Stonewall Louisiana where he and his wife Pat enjoyed quite country living. As the years passed Jim always cared for his widowed Mother, Patricia C Davis and widowed Aunt Ann C. Wyche. That care continued until he became too ill. Jim always thought of others over himself.
Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Devry and Darren; daughter Kimberly; mother, Patricia; brother, Bobby; sister, Diane; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Jim will be held Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel in Shreveport with the visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time. The grave side service will follow at 12 noon in Northwest Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana.
