James “Jim” H. Mole, 94, CMSGT USAF, Retired of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed from this life to the next on May 6, 2023, at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home.
He was born to James Calvin Mole and Estelle Alice Mole nee’ Pope on August 21, 1928, in Varnville, South Carolina. Jim graduated from Hampton High and joined the military shortly after graduation.
Jim married Gwendolyn Emptage, the love of his life, on June 2, 1951, in Ramsgate, Kent, England. Sadly Gwendolyn, “Lynn” Predeceased Jim in March of 2022. He is also predeceased by his sisters, Myrtis Lee Calvert, and Erma Heirs. Jim is survived by his daughters, Gail Colgan of Manchester Center, Vermont, and Jill Mole of Bossier City; grandson, Graham W. Colgan and wife, Karen of San Diego, California; three great-grandchildren, Ryder Colgan, Remi Colgan, and Marley Colgan; brother, Marvin Mole of Varnville, South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim served 30 years in the Air Force in the finance and budget field and retired in August of 1976. His work took him to many interesting places that, included England, Alaska, Vietnam, and Okinawa. Before retiring from Barksdale, he was awarded the Meratorious service medal for his outstanding financial management achievements.
After retiring, Jim pursued his passion for fishing, the Dallas Cowboys, bowling, and square dancing with his wife Lynn. But soon, he returned to a new job at Barksdale Federal Credit Union, where after 19 years of service, he retired as their CFO, and although officially retired, he still managed to volunteer on the credit union’s supervisory board until shortly before his passing.
Jim was a member of Chief Chat, the Air Force Association, and the retired enlisted association.
Graveside services will be Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. with military honors at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Spur, Bossier City, Louisiana.
