James Larry Vickers, Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2017 in Bossier City, LA. His life will be celebrated with a mass at St. Jude Catholic Church at 12:30, Thursday, August 3, 2017, with visitation from 10:30-12:30 at the church. Interment will be at 4 p.m. at Central Cemetery in Robeline.
Larry was born to James, Sr. and Tessie Vickers on June 23, 1947. He was retired from Shelter Insurance Company, a member of St. Jude, and a former member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where he was active as an usher and a finance councilman. He was a member in the Knights of Columbus, and a 25 year veteran of the Louisiana High School Football Officials.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Randy Vickers. Larry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra Vickers of Bossier; son, Michael Vickers and wife, Ghena of Benton; daughter, Cathy James and husband, Billy Jack of Benton; grandchildren, Brayden and Jackson Vickers; Tyler and Tessie James, and numerous family members.
Larry was loved by many and will be greatly missed. His faith in God and his family were the center of his life. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy.
Honoring Larry as pallbearers will be, Mike McGowan, Travis McManemin, Bruce Winn, Marshall Winn, Doug Bland, John Winn, Steve Hazelwood, and Tony Digilormo.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Catholic Church Building Fund.
