A memorial service for James Lee "Roscoe" Wilson, 71, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Barksdale Baptist Church, 1714 Jimmie Davis Highway, Bossier City, Louisiana. Following will be a Celebration of Life from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Calvin Hubbard.
Roscoe was born May 22, 1950 in Danville, Illinois to James Dewey and Marjorie Lucille Bell Wilson and passed away Friday, August 13, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
He graduated from Attica High School in Attica, Indiana. After high school he joined the United States Air Force and served from 1973-1975. He joined the Indiana Air National Guard in 1975 as an Aircraft Armament Systems Technician and retired after 31 years in 2004. He loved building model airplanes, woodworking, golfing, camping, riding horses and volunteering at the Red River Wildlife Refuge. His favorite airplane was a P-51 Mustang. Roscoe was an active member of the Southern Baptist Church and worked with starting missions. He loved working with the youth of the church and was an Assistant Cubbie Leader in Awanas. Roscoe enjoyed making noodles for the high school choir dinners and the church Christmas carry outs. He also loved baking pies.
Roscoe is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Dewey and Ruth Wilson. He is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Linda Howerton Wilson; son, Mike Briles and wife, Stephanie; daughters, Jamie Roemer and husband, Tim, Brozia Drake and husband, David and Briana Scott and husband, Drew; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hechinger and husband, Rob, Kelci Craft and husband, Casey, Ashlyn Waters, Dazia Drake, Kyndall Drake, Lyla Briles, Elicia Briles, Dawson Scott, Brayden Scott, Hunter Scott and Jackson Briles and great-grandchildren, Harper Waters, Karstyn Hechinger, Theo Craft and Oliver Craft.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Caddo Canoe Project for the Red River Wildlife Refuge where he volunteered his time,
