Funeral services for James Leighton Loe will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at 10:00 o'clock at Rose-Neath Funeral Home at 1680 First St Arcadia, LA 71001. Officiating will be Rev. Dan Gleason and Rev. Jon Lord. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 9th, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 o'clock. Internment will be at Bear Creek Cemetery at Bryceland, LA. Following the internment, friends and family will meet for lunch at his boyhood home in the Bear Creek community near Bryceland. James Loe was born on October 18, 1930, at Bryceland, LA in Bienville Parish. His parents are Foster L. Loe and Mary James Loe. He is preceded in death by his parents, Foster L. Loe and Mary James Loe and his brother, Fred L Loe. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Robbie Barnett Loe. Daughters are Suzanne Loe Slavin and husband Charles Slavin of Mineral Wells, Texas, Lynn Barefield and husband George Barefield of Lake Martin, Dadeville Alabama. Grandchildren are William Kane Finkbeiner and his wife Jessica Smith Finkbeiner, Dr. Brandon Lee Finkbeiner and wife Dominique Donohoe Finkbeiner, George Kyler Barefield Jr., Lynnsey Leighton Barefield, and Kenneth Olsen Barefield. Great Granddaughters are Kaitlyn Grace Finkbeiner and Hailey Ann Finkbeiner. Sisters are Mary Nell Loe White and husband L. E. White of Bossier City, LA and Joan Loe Gleason of Homer, LA. He graduated from Bryceland High School, attended LSU, and graduated from LA Tech University. He was a member of the United States Air Force. He was employed for 33 years by The United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service, now known as Natural Resources and Conservation Service. Pallbearers will be Kane Finkbeiner, Dr. Lee Finkbeiner, Kyle Barefield, Ken Barefield, Kent Cheney, and Steve Gleason. Honorary pallbearers will be George Barefield, Charles Slavin, Henry Thrash, Jack Collinsworth, Harry Rucker, Raymond Germany, Sr., and Richard Lohrey.
