James "Jim" Marvin Mays, age 65, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019. He was born on December 1, 1953 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Tommy and Betty Mays. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. James graduated from Rhema Bible School in 1978. He was a loving and proud father and grandfather. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a devoted son who cared for his mother for 12 years until the time of his passing. James enjoyed working in the yard, and he loved all of God's little creatures.
James was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Mays. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kimberly Rivera-Santos and husband Jose; grandchildren, Nathan Hall and wife Kayetlyn, Sidney Hall, Kinsley Hall, and Joseph Rivera-Santos; great-grandchild, Beckham Hall; sister, Diane Masters and husband Keith; and brother, Tim Mays and wife Liz.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2019 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Pastor Geno Munds officiating. Interment will follow at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the funeral home. Honoring James as pallbearers will be Matt Mays, Keith Masters, Nathan Hall, Jeff Williams, and Pat Lindsay.
