A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pease Chapel Cemetery, 3384 Bellevue Rd, Haughton, Louisiana 71037. Officiating the service will be Art Davis.
James Vernon McLendon, born on June 18, 1949, departed this life on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. He was a cherished individual who came from a loving family, and his presence touched the hearts of many.
James was known for his unwavering support of the Dallas Cowboys, a passion he carried with pride throughout his life. His enthusiasm for the team was matched only by his love for music, which provided a soundtrack to countless cherished memories. He found joy in the holidays, celebrating each season with enthusiasm and warmth, and he maintained a delightful tradition of always requesting chocolate cake for his birthday, a symbol of the sweetness he brought into the lives of those around him.
His kind spirit, coupled with his genuine love for family and friends, created an environment of comfort and joy to all who knew him. James leaves behind a legacy of generosity, laughter, and love that will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
As we reflect on James's life, we honor the moments spent together, the conversations shared, and the memories created. He will be dearly missed but always remembered for his kind heart and joyful spirit.
James was preceded in death by his father, James Ernest McLendon; mother, Hazel Amberellas McLendon and brother, Charles Hal Bell. He is survived by his sisters, Amber Elizabeth Hyde and Ruby Jeanette Myres.
