Sibley, LA Funeral services for James Larry Merritt will be held Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church in Minden, Louisiana with Rev. Jimmy Brooks, Rev. Tommy Murphy, and Rev. Keith Adcock officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden, Louisiana under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. The family will receive friends 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020 at First Pentecostal Church in Minden, Louisiana. Larry was born January 13, 1951 in Minden, Louisiana and entered into rest September 11, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Larry was a member of First Pentecostal Church, retired Mayor of Sibley, served as Sibley City Councilman, on the Louisiana Rural Water Board, and Assistant Fire Chief of Sibley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mamie Edna Merritt; and his brother, Paul Wayne Merritt. He is survived by his wife, Nelwynn Merritt of Sibley; sons, Michael Merritt and wife Julie of Waxahachie, Texas, and Keith Merritt and wife Brandy of Sibley; daughter, DeVonda Spurlock and her husband Rev. Ashley Spurlock of Waxahachie, Texas; grandchildren, Tyler and Brooke Merritt, Ashlynn Spurlock, James Merritt, Isaac Merritt, Maya Merritt, and Luke Merritt; one great-granddaughter, Gracelynn Merritt.
