SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for James Allen Motley of Shreveport, and formerly of Ruston, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel, 2201 Airline Dr. in Bossier City. Officiating will be Dr. Tom Harrison. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bernice, LA. The family will be receiving friends for visitation prior to the service Saturday, September 13, 2014 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
James was born on April 29, 1931 and departed this life peacefully to join his Lord on September 11, 2014 after a lengthy illness. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and went to work for Bell South where he was employed for 37 Years. He was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and the Harville Sunday School Class. Thanks to his class for their faithful support during his illness.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Motley and Loudella Kelly Motley and a brother-in-law, Bobby Echols.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gladys Areta Motley; sons, Carl Allen Motley and Bill Louis Motley, sister, Edith Echols; brother-in-law, Ronnie Farrar and wife, Karen; sister-in-law, Doyce Woodhall and husband, Paul and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Honoring James as pallbearers will be Terry Johnson, John Ed Farrar, Jason Smith, Robert Echols, "Speedy" Edwards and Jimmy Richards.
James was always interested in the latest news and enjoyed a lively debate. He liked being with family and friends and visiting with his many doctors. James, we will miss you!
