HOMER, LA: Funeral services will be held for James Dewell Murray, 89, at the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home at 405 E. 5th Street in Homer, LA, on Wednesday, December 24, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Doyce Whitten and Rev. Jeff Derrick, officiating. Interment will follow at Colquitt cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 23, from 5-7 p.m.
Mr. Murray was born May 2, 1925, in Summerfield, LA, to John and Margaret Wiltcher Murray. He entered into rest Sunday, December 21, 2014, at his home in Haynesville, LA. Mr. Murray served in United States Navy during W.W. II. He retired from Wonder Bread where he was a truck driver for 30 years.
Mr. Murray is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 years, Josephine Mason Murray; daughter-in-law, Linda Murray; six sisters and five brothers.
He is survived by his son, James Leon Murray of Haynesville, LA; a daughter, Linda Kay Caples and Joe of Haynesville, LA; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Scott Murray, Jamie Murray, Mike Caples, James Caples, Michael Caples and Ryan Murray.
For friends considering memorials to Mr. Murray, his family suggests the St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
