SHREVEPORT, LA - A Memorial Service for John Stephen Nightengale, 74, will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Dr. Harold Christensen will officiate. Visitation with the family will begin at 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at NWLA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA. John was born on December 30, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Gene and Winifred Nightengale and passed away on March 1, 2016. John was a retired commercial pilot, but his passion for flying never ended. He was a member of El Karubah Shrine and the Eastern Star, and he was a 32^nd Degree Mason. He was past president of the Highland Club and continued to volunteer for this organization until his death. John was also a dedicated supporter and volunteer at The Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport. John was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Gail Haney Nightengale and son, J. Stephen Nightengale. John had 2 brothers, 5 sisters and their spouses, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
