James Anderson Powell, Sr.
Visitation for Mr. Powell will be Monday, April 11th at 12:30 p.m. at Eastside Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Bro. Richard Methvin and Bro. Don McCormick officiating. Interment will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley, Louisiana.
Mr. Powell was born on February 1, 1921 and went to be with Jesus on April 7, 2016. He was a veteran of World War II, a deacon of 45 years in his church, and was a founder and co-owner of Blazer Construction.
He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 68 years, Mary Neill and his son Jimmy Powell. His family will miss him greatly, including his four children and their spouses: Jennie and Larry Shoemaker, Carol and Glen Honley, Pattie Powell, Hunt and Dana Powell, Jane and Mark Carver; a brother Rex Powell and wife, Cora; 11 grand-children, Tammie Tullos, Cindy McCormick, Ronnie Reno, Drew Reno, Jason Powell, Dustin Powell, Casey Powell, Clint Powell, Caty Powell, Tyler McLemore and Maggie Dinsmore; 23 great grand-children and 10 great great grand-children and other extended family.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lucy Powell and brothers and sisters Thelma, Loletha, Ezra (Sweet Pea), Homer, Sylvester, Mildred, and Joy.
