James "Rabbit" Henry Rodrigues

James Henry “Rabbit” Rodrigues 76, of Many, Louisiana went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 11, 2024, at his residence. He was born on June 3, 1947, in Many, Louisiana to Ernest Rodrigues, Sr. and to Nancy Ann (Remedies) Rodrigues. 

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and a rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 9891 Texas Highway, Many, Louisiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1130 San Antonio Avenue, Many, Louisiana at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, with Fr. Timothy Hurd officiating and Bro. Joe Hendrickson assisting. Interment will follow in Friendship Church Cemetery, 1922 Patton Road, Many, Louisiana.

Rabbit was known and loved by everyone. He was truly the definition of a good man. He was a devout Catholic who was a family man through and through. If you spent any time with him, you knew his heartbeat for his family and friends. He loved and helped everyone he knew and even those he did not know. Most days you could find him early in the morning getting his coffee at Chevron, at Family Farm & Garden, or in the yard working on everyone in Sabine Parish’s lawn mowers. 

Preceding him in death are his parents, Ernest Rodrigues, Sr. and Nancy Ann (Remedies) Rodrigues; his father-in-law, Wilbur Hays “Sonny” Farrar; his brothers, Ernest Rodrigues, Jr., Aubrey Rodrigues, and Curtis Levi “Doc” Rodrigues; and his nephew, Steven Rodrigues. He is survived by his wife of almost 44 years, Donna Kay (Farrar) Rodrigues of Many, LA; his sons, Shane Kennedy and Laney of Many, LA, Ryan Rodrigues and wife, Valen of Many, LA; his daughter, Sonya Rodrigues and Rodney Meshell of Zwolle, LA; his sisters, Betty Broome and husband, Harry of Slidell, LA, Patsy McLendon and husband, Odis of Many, LA, Beverly Rodrigues Sumner of Many, LA, Noonie Bradford and husband, Bill of Many, LA, and Rose Sparks and husband, Ottis of Many, LA; his brothers, Fred Remedies of Covington, LA, Richard Bruce & wife, Gloria of Many, LA; his grandchildren, Justin Powell of Provencal, LA, Maressa Brant and husband, Luke of Hornbeck, LA, Joshua Kennedy and wife Paige of Zwolle, LA, Shaina McGee and husband, Nic of Zwolle, LA; his great grandchildren, Noah, Liam, Tripp, Leon, Emeri, and Able; his mother-in-law, Flora Farrar of Many, LA; and his sister-in-law, Linda Rodrigues of Kenner, LA; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members.            

Honoring him as pallbearers will be JC Andries, Luke Brant, Rodney Meshell, Chris Walker, Rick McConnell, Keith McLendon, Jamison Hedges, and Jacob Rodrigues. His honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Bush, Terry Lane Farrar, Travis Davis, Kenneth Meyers, Carroll Salley, Leon Kennedy, Emeri Cartinez, Able McGee, Noah Strebeck, Liam Brant, and Tripp Brant. 

Rabbit will be missed dearly by so many friends and acquaintances from throughout the parish and state as he never met a stranger! He was definitely a positive role model to his family and friends, and he would literally give you the shirt off of his back. May he rest in eternal peace!
