James Walter Ramsey, Sr. passed away at home after a lengthy illness on Friday, February 24, 2017, at the age of 72. He was born on April 6, 1944 in Bryan, TX. He graduated high school in Jefferson, TX in 1963. Jim went on to serve in the the US Army. In 1967 he married the love of his life, Tina MaGouirk. Jim retired after 20 years of faithful service from Landers Dodge in BC, LA.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Jim enjoyed being president of the Beacons Sunday school class for many years. He was well known for his wonderful, playful sense of humor. He liked to fish. When the Dallas Cowboys were playing you would find him unavailable for anything else. He was great at tinkering with things, fixing anything that was broken. Camping with friends and family was a relaxing pastime for him. He loved his family. Jim will be missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hailey Willie Ramsey. Jim is survived by his mother, Ouida Ramsey Allen; his brothers Jack and Bill Ramsey; his wife of nearly 50 years, Tina Ramsey; his children Kellie Ramsey Anthony, Ginger Ramsey, and Rusty Ramsey; his grandchildren Johnathon, Charles, Keela, and Sophea Anthony: and his great grandson Brayden Anthony.

Funeral services for James Walter Ramsey, Sr. will be held at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel on March 1, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ken Norton officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
