James Vernon Santos

Funeral services for James Vernon Santos, 89, of Shreveport, Louisiana will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held starting at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Reverend Timmy Tipton will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Logansport, Louisiana.
 
 Vernon was born on November 28, 1934 in Noble, LA to Joseph and Lena Santos and passed away peacefully at his home on January 31, 2024 in Shreveport, LA.

Vernon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his family. He loved his friends and he loved to dance. Vernon could be found dancing every Thursday night at The Summit of Bossier City and every Saturday night at the VFW Post 5951 in Bossier City. Vernon worked at Sunbeam Bakery for 28 years and then worked at Pittsburgh Glass where he retired.

Vernon was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Grantham Santos; parents, Joseph and Lena Santos; brother, Joseph Paddie and sisters, Elvia Procell Paddie and Vera Santos Miller.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Terry Santos, Mark Santos and his wife, Rene'; Jayne' Guin and her husband, Randy; and his loving grandchildren, Chad Santos and wife, Allison, Alyssa Ivey and husband, Jeremy, Ashton Guin, Parker Santos and Jessica Santos; and great-granddaughters, Emmy Santos, Sadie Santos, and Soul Santos; and great-grandsons, Wells Santos, Grantham Ivey and Greyson Ivey. Vernon is also survived by his sister, Mary Verda Santos Weldon.

Vernon was “loved” by so many people and will always be in our hearts.
