James Randel Smith

James Randel "Randy" Smith, age 41, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at his home in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born on July 16, 1976, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Linda Terry. He was a 1994 graduate of Woodlawn High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1994 to 1997 where he was able to defend the country that he loved so passionately. He was able to travel the world and experience some of his greatest adventures while in the Navy. He worked in sales, where he displayed a wonderful knack for talking to people, giving great customer service and being a hard worker. James lived life to the fullest. He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. He had the biggest heart and personality. He loved to listen to music, play golf, watch WWII history and learn about biblical prophecy. His favorite thing of all was cooking, especially when he was able to cook for others. James was most passionate about three things in his life, first and foremost, his salvation and love for his savior and Lord Jesus Christ, his love and devotion to his family, whom he adored, and his love for his many close friends. He is preceded in death by his precious maternal grandmother, Winnie Knox Terry, whom he loved with all his heart, and his maternal grandfather James W. Terry, as well as other beloved family members who have also gone to be with our Lord Jesus. He is survived by his mother Linda Terry, sister Joy Smith-Lester and her husband United States Air Force TSgt. Christopher A. Lester, nephew Trenton Jax Lester, daughter Kaylin Danielle Smith, fiancé Brandy Walker as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Knox family. Family, friends, and others whose lives James touched are invited to a celebration of his life at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA 71118 for visitation from 3:00pm-4:00pm with a service to begin at 4:00pm on Saturday, May 26, 2018 to reminisce, grieve and support one another. For those of us who knew and loved James, we know he is happy now as he is finally walking with his precious savior, Jesus Christ, in the beautiful streets of heaven. He would want us all to rejoice as he is finally "home" where he has always longed to be.
