SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for James Collins Smith II will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Rev. David Logan and Rev. Jeff Bezucha will be officiating. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, June 15th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home.
James was born on February 23, 1952 in Shreveport to James Smith, Sr. and Evie Eaves Smith and passed away on June 12, 2016. He was a life-long resident of Shreveport and worked as a salesman for a communications company. James met and married the love of his life Deborah LaFran Wesson. His passion was working with people who suffered with addictions. His pride and joy was his dog, Jade
James was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 29 years, Deborah LaFran Wesson Smith; sons, Christopher Collins Smith, James Matthew Smith, and Barron Nathaniel Smith; step-son, Patrick Ponce; sister, Pam Smith Morgan and husband, Chuck, along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Honoring James as pallbearers will be Joshua Thomisee, Cary Boyd, Randy Brown, Ken Greis, Tony Lewis, and Alan Sanchez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Morgan, Vernon Whiteman, and Rick Owens.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to Christus Highland Hospital, Children's Miracle Network.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Craig Miller, Dr. David Green, Dr. Stuart Blum and the nursing staff of PCU and the entire respiratory department of Christus Highland Hospital.
