James Denson Stahl of Houston, TX, formerly of Dubberly, LA died on August 14, 2014 after a short illness. He was born on March 15, 1921 in Dubberly, LA and live to be 93 years old. James served in the United States Air Force in World War II envisioning to serve as a pilot but his hearing prevented that pursuit. After the service he worked at United Gas, later Pennzoil, and retired after 47 years. At that time he and his wife, Dottie, moved back to his birthplace and built a home in Dubberly, LA, where they lived until her death. He then moved to Houston to be close to his children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dottie Williams, sister, Mary Grace Cox and husband Frank, brother Harold Stahl and wife Doyce, brother-in-law, Mack Rowland. He is survived by his three children, Kathy Lucco and husband, Joe, John Stahl and wife Carmen, Jane Ann O'Brien and husband, Kevin, six grandchildren, Ashleigh and Kristin Lucco, Jason and James Martin Stahl, and Diane and Michael O'Brien, and sister Thelma Rowland. Numerous nieces, nephews, and friends cherish his memory as well.
He was a caring and generous man always finding ways to help others. He was a member of the Methodist church serving faithfully wherever he lived. He loved gardening and the outdoors and knew all the old family stories handed down through the years. He and Dottie had an open-door invitation to anyone who wanted to visit. Life was appreciated by James and he lived it to its fullest potential. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend taking great joy in all but especially as a grandfather. He definitely made a mark on many lives and will be greatly missed. Now his race is finished, the prize is won, and he has heard "Well done good and faithful servant...enter into the joy of the Lord."
Visitation for James will be on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home from 10 until 11 a.m. followed by a short service in the chapel.
