Funeral services for James Roy Taylor, 66, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Mr. Ted Booker officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at the funeral home.
Roy was born September 2, 1951 in Shreveport, LA and went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2018 in Grand Cane, LA. He retired from the Shreveport Fire Department after 28 years. He also worked for Ellzey Construction for many years. He loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Bentley and Violet Taylor; brother, Kenneth Taylor; and sisters, Donna Reynolds, Betty Floyd, and Linda Gouthiere. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cynthia Sibley Taylor; daughters, Cheryl Love and husband Doly and Jamie Brown and husband Chris; grandchildren, Cody Barton and husband Kyle, Chris Love, Cadie Clinton, Chase Love, and Darianne Lee and husband Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Barton, Kendyl Barton, Kourtlyn Barton, Gracie Love, Madelyn Love, and Elizza Brown; siblings, Shelby Ellzey, Connie Avant, Delvie Parker, and Carol Huddleston and husband Jimmy; sister-in-law, Jean Taylor; brothers-in-law, Wayne Floyd and Doug Reynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Roy as pallbearers will be Ricky Ellzey, James Avant, Jeff Avant, Chuck Gouthiere, Chris Morgan, Scott Calvert, and Paul Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be Vaughn Jordan and Richard Lowe.
