Visitation for James Harvey Thomas, 81, will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019 at Rose-Neath Southside with graveside services following at 1:30 p.m. at Forest Park West Cemetery. Brother Kevin Arinder will be officiating. James was born November 8, 1937 in Shreveport, LA and went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2019. He was a self-described stubborn man but he had a secret strength and love for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Thomas; son, Anthony L. Thomas; and son-in-law, James L. Johnson, Jr. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Doris Lucille Thomas; sister, Barbara S. Simon and husband Vernon; daughters, Louann Bamberg and husband Wayne, Docia T. Johnson, and Cynthia G. Johns and husband Scott; grandchildren, Michael W. Bamberg, Jr., Larry J. Bamberg and wife Amy, Christina S. Paris and husband Dean, Jamie Rae Thomas, Christian A. Grant, Kameron Johns, and Brittany R. Johnson; great-grandchildren, Dossen, Tacoda, Brianna, Nevaeh Marie, Douglas, Zachary, and soon-to-be Sofia or Colten on the way. Honoring James as pallbearers will be Martinez Medrano, Michael Bamberg, Larry Bamberg, Christian Grant, Kameron Johns, Richard Brooks, Jr., and Joe Brooks. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. White, Dr. Langlois, and St. Joseph's Hospice for their care.
