BOSSIER CITY, LA - James Aubrey "Fuzzy" Underwood, 58, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 25, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Visitation with family and friends will be Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Rose-Neath Bossier Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel, Bossier City, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Tommy Patton of Cypress Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery, Haughton, LA.
James was born in Shreveport, LA on June 12, 1957 to Oliver Lee Underwood, Sr. and Ruth Shackelford Underwood. He was a resident of Bossier City, LA. He was solid in his Christian faith, loved his family and was loyal to his friends. He was a devoted husband to Debbie, his best friend and soulmate, and the love of his life for 37 years. James was a wonderful loving father to his three children and the best "Papa" in the world to his two grandchildren that he adored. He worked for KCS railroad for 35 years as a switchman/conductor and was known as "Fuzzy" to all his railroad co-workers. He enjoyed entertaining, cooking, hunting, fishing and making others laugh, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Left to treasure the loving memories are his wife, Debbie Underwood; daughters, Angie Underwood, Nina Robertson and husband, Brandon; son, James Ryan Underwood; grandchildren, Abby and J.C. Whittington; sister, Norma Lee Gray and husband, Al; brother, O. Lee Underwood, Jr. and wife, Carla; beloved mother-in-law, Kathleen Craig; sisters-in-law and husband, Diana and Wayne Reed, Shirley and Randy Rowe, Cathy and Larry Pate; brother-in-law, Robert Craig; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Honoring James as pallbearers will be Larry LeBlanc, Jimmy Cochran, David Heyman, R.W. Barnes, Jerome Milam, Jack George, Marlin Player and Dennis McLendon.
The family would like to extend their warmest gratitude to Dr. Michael Moore, Rita and Holly, for their friendship and care of "Jim" over the last 13 years. Also many thanks to the wonderful staff of Willis Knighton Bossier, Willis Knighton North Assessment Center and The Grace Home.
